New Community Grant opens for National Reconciliation Week 2021

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2020, in 2015-2017 estimated life expectancy at birth for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males was 71.6 years or 8.6 times lower than for non-Indigenous males and 75.6 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander females or 7.8 years lower than for non-Indigenous females.

On the occasion of the upcoming Reconciliation Australia Week for 2021, ‘More than a word. Reconciliation takes action’, St Vincent's Clinic Foundation is offering funding of up to $50,000 for community health services and related research towards improving health outcomes for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander communities. The aim of the grant is to actively support early stage healthcare researchers to participate directly in inclusive research projects as a component of their professional career.
